Once upon a full moon
There was a girl who ended her life too soon
They found her body in the lagoon
And thought she was just a loon
Who drank too much in one afternoon
But she left a note tied to a red balloon
For the boy whose mere presence made her swoon
Once upon the same full moon
A boy played a tune on his sad bassoon
About his love to a girl named June
That to say it he thought was too soon
He would only know it was too late the next afternoon
When she was found dead in the lagoon
And read her note that said, “I’m a fork that is missing its spoon.”
