Present Perfect

As I’m writing this entry, I’m lying on my bed for the last time in this house. The first house my parents bought and the house where my little sister and I grew up in. As far as I know, my daughter was conceived here in this room and my husband drew his last breath in another.

There’s so much you can say about a place you’ve just been for an hour, so I won’t even try to describe how I feel about the place I’ve lived in for about 30 years. Tomorrow all this will be my past as I board the plane that will take me to my future, so let me just savour the present tonight. 🙂
